Located on the north coast of Jamaica, the town of Ocho Rios is adorned with beautiful golden beaches juxtaposed against its jungle-covered mountains. This backdrop allows for a myriad of unique excursions for guests to enjoy (including river rafting and tubing, swimming with dolphins, or exploring the Green Grotto Caves), relaxing on the beach, or a day enjoying Jamaican rum and local cuisine.

This band really brought an ‘80s festival vibe with this set, including their signature synth sound, high energy performance, hair blowing in the wind under a sunny blue sky, retro-style clothes, etc. Vocalist Kenny Leckremo took it upon himself to climb up the rafters, reaching nearly the top of the stage, and singing to the crowd from above. After a few tunes at Rare Hare, I headed to the Theater for one of my favorite bands. Spread Eagle is performing during the “brunch shift,” as singer Ray West called it since they went on at noon. With such a big stage at their disposal, the band took advantage – moving around, standing on the side subwoofers, getting right up front and interacting with the crowd. The two founding members, bassist Rob De Luca and vocalist Ray West, have an incredible musical chemistry that is so evident in their live performances.

The second stop on MORC ‘24 is Nassau, who’s port just got an extensive $300 million makeover ‒ taking almost four years to complete. The upgrades include a complete revamp of the waterfront area including repairing and expanding Prince George Wharf, additional berths, and a brand-new terminal. Not to mention, there will be event and entertainment spaces, an amphitheater hosting up 3,500 people, a living coral exhibit, as well as local food vendors and shops for guests to peruse. The group is called KK’s Priest and they’ve since released 2 studio albums. Personally, I went in blind when going to their show on the MORC, having not listened to either of their albums. After beginning their previous set so late, I was glad to see this second Pool Stage set run much more smoothly – with the band less stressed, adjusted to the motion of the ship and the intense winds. It is truly impressive how perfectly in time and locked in with each other, especially only playing a few shows a year. We’ve been on cruises before, but this one was so different and so much fun! The night’s final show for me was Firehouse in the Theater, which began at midnight. The group played nearly all of their debut record with ease, especially original guitarist Bill Leverty, who makes every shred-filled solo look like an absolute breeze.
